Dear Dr. Jen, I was told my fasting blood sugar of 105 is just borderline high. Should I be worried?
Answer: Yes. Your fasting blood sugar falls in the range of prediabetes! A fasting blood sugar between 100-126 is considered to be in the prediabetes range. Prediabetes puts you at increased risk for diabetes, heart attack, and stroke.
The good news is you can potentially reverse prediabetes and prevent its future complications by exercising 30 minutes a day. If you are overweight, losing 5-7 percent of your body weight (or more), can also help.
Please make a follow up appointment with your doctor and get repeat bloodwork to track your blood sugars!
